What is safehold series?

Safehold is a series of science fiction novels written by David Weber. The series is set in a distant future where humanity has spread to other planets and created a vast interstellar civilization. However, a group of advanced aliens known as the Gbaba have been destroying all intelligent life they encounter.

In order to survive, humanity creates a secret colony on a planet called Safehold, where they erase all knowledge of their true origins and create a society based on a fictional religion known as the Church of God Awaiting. The series follows the story of Merlin Athrawes, a cyborg created to protect and guide humanity on Safehold, as he works to prepare the people for the inevitable clash with the Gbaba.
